Askham Lots Nature Reserve
Although only 1.25 by 1.25 miles in size, Askham Lots Nature Reserve has the
highest number of plant species per square mile in Cumbria. It is a former mining area and old
slag heaps can be seen along the shoreline. There are underground springs in this Site of Special
Scientific Interest.
