Hutton Roof Crags Nature Reserve
(See also Hutton Roof (Kirkby Lonsdale))
This site of special scientific interest consists of some of
Britain's best limestone pavement. Both grassland and woodland are contained in the reserve,
which is home to butterflies and birds. In the reserve are plants such as dark red helleborine,
Solomons seal, and a number of varieties of ferns.
There are a number of walks in the
reserve, and Morecambe bay can be seen from the top.
Hutton Roof Crags Nature Reserve is located by the village of Hutton Roof, which
is on a minor road off the A65 from Kirkby Lonsdale. A footpath in the village leads to the
reserve.
