Priest Pot Nature Reserve
Priest Pot is found at the head of Esthwaite Water. It is small and relatively
shallow having been formed by accumulating silt. Mostly undisturbed for 400 years, it and its
adjoining fen make up a National Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest.
The area has a number of micro-habitats with species suitable for each area. It
has been the object of intense ecological study for a number of years. The soil in the area is
rich in nutrients.
Priest Pot Nature Reserve is located off the B5285 from Hawkshead..
