Talkin Tarn Country Park

(See also Talkin village)

Talkin tarn by Ann BowkerTalkin Tarn Country parks attractions consist of a 65 acre lake and 120 acres of woods. There are walks around the lakeside (1.3 miles), nature trails, and places to picnic.

Interpretive displays are provided in the boathouse, and a tea room offers food and gifts. Boats and bikes are offered for rent. The lake can be used for windsurfing, fishing, and sailing but not swimming. There is a local rowing club.

Talkin tarn path by Ann BowkerThe lake, formed by glaciers, has spawned a legend of a buried village beneath it, supposedly destroyed by an angry god. Underground streams keep the water flowing.
