Casterton Stone Circle
(See also Casterton)
Casterton stone circle, set in an irregular earth bank, dates from the
neolithic/bronze age, approximately BC2000-600. Making up the 62 foot in diameter circle are 19
stones. The tallest stone is 19.5 inches high. A circular feature in the bank may be a cairn. It
is thought that some 1828 discoveries, among which were a bronze spearhead, flint arrowhead, and
drinking vessel, came from this circle.
Casterton stone circle is located northeast of the village of Casterton.
