Lakes Aquarium

The Lakes Aquarium is a multilevel freshwater attraction at Lakeside on the southern shore of Lake Windermere. More than 30 displays use the latest technology and are set up to follow a river from its felltop beginning to its end in Morecambe Bay. Each areamountain stream, river, lake, seashore, and bayis decorated with Lake District murals and uses sound effects.
Wildlife in and around the lake are part of the largest collection of freshwater fish in the UK. Visitors will see otters, sharks, rays, and pike among the living attractions. A sunken shipwreck gives panoramic views into the aquarium's Lake Windermere tank. The Lakes Aquarium allows you to explore the lakes of the world and discover some incredible creaturesfrom otters in Asia, piranhas in the Americas, and marmosets in the rainforest.
There are, of course, all your favourite creatures that live closer to home, including diving ducks in the underwater tunnel, as well as seahorses and rays at the seashore. You can pay a visit to the Virtual Dive Bell and experience interactive adventures with hippos, sharks, and crocodiles.
The cinema attraction provides an audiovisual trip above and below the surface of Lake Windermere. Other interactive displays include plasma screens, a miniature working waterwheel, and a miniature lighthouse.
