Low Sizergh Barn Craft Gallery, Farm Shop, and Tea-room
The farm shop, located in a stone 18th century barn, sells organic vegetables grown on the farm. Sixty varieties of cheese, made by UK artisan producers and small dairies are available. Milk is on sale is from the farm herd as is ice-cream produced from it. Meat, poultry and game from nearby farms and estates and jams and chutneys from Cumbrian hedgerow fruits can be purchased. Also available are pickles and preserves and puddings and pies that include Borrowdale tea bread and Westmorland lemon cake. Organic eggs are collected daily.
The tea-room serves all the farm shop goodies and produce. If you are there in the afternoon you can watch the cows coming into the barn to be milked. A two mile farm trail reveals the principles of organic farming used at Low Sizergh. Plant, animal, and bird life are part of the attraction.
The craft shop displays work by local potters and artists, as well as items made in glass and wrought iron. Baskets and rugs can be purchased. Other items include handmade paper, toys, knitwear, and clothing made from wool, linen, silk and cotton.
