Gossipgate Gallery, in the town of
Alston, is 100 yards from the town centre in a back lane on the way to the Seven Sisters
Waterfall and Packhorse Bridge. The 1804 building once served as a Congregational Church and still retains its gaslights.
The gallery specializes in the work of contemporary artists and craftspeople from
the North of England, selling paintings, sculpture, jewellery, glass, pottery, wood and textiles.
The gallery also sells CDs of Northumbrian music, books of local interest, and a selection of
artists' materials.
From February to December there is a changing program of exhibitions highlighting
both established and new artists.
The gallery has a wildflower garden
with a tea terrace, a coffee shop, local garden pottery, and garden furniture.

Alston is located on the A686, A689, and B6277. Follow the lane between the Market Cross and the
Turks Head. Signposted.
