Gossipgate Gallery

(See also Alston)

Gossipgate Gallery courtesy of Graeme DougalGossipgate Gallery, in the town of Alston, is 100 yards from the town centre in a back lane on the way to the Seven Sisters Waterfall and Packhorse Bridge. The 1804 building once served as a Congregational Church and still retains its gaslights.

The gallery specializes in the work of contemporary artists and craftspeople from the North of England, selling paintings, sculpture, jewellery, glass, pottery, wood and textiles. The gallery also sells CDs of Northumbrian music, books of local interest, and a selection of artists' materials.

From February to December there is a changing program of exhibitions highlighting both established and new artists.
