Higham Hall College
(See also Bassenthwaite)
Higham Hall was built c.1800 as a family home. It served as a youth hostel and a
girls' school in the 20th century before being converted to the Lake District's
Residential College for Continuing Education. It is owned and run by the Cumbria County
Council.
Four acres of informal Victorian gardens include a pond, a woodland walk,
specimen trees, lawns, a sunken rose garden, and rhododendrons.
