Stagshaw Garden
(See also Ambleside and Windermere)
Stagshaw Garden, owned by the National Trust, is a woodland garden
covering eight acres, half of which is located on a steep hill overlooking Windermere. Ridges,
valleys and waterfalls characterise the land. The garden is home to rhododendrons, azaleas,
magnolias and camellias. Native bilberries find the habitat much to their liking.
Next to the garden is Skelghyll
Woods where there are walks and access to the fells beyond.
Stagshaw garden is on the A591 ½ mile south of Ambleside.
Open April-end June, daily, 10.30 am-6.30 pm; July-end Oct, by appointment. Send
