Keswick museum and art gallery interior by StephsKeswick's local museum, the Victorian Museum and Art Gallery, contains original manuscripts and memorabilia of the Lake writers, poets Southey and Wordsworth, and novelist Hugh Walpole (15 volumes of his diaries are in the museum). The museum is also full of curios and curiosities that include a set of musical stones.

Local history, dating to Roman times, and topography are included in the museum's displays. There is a Lake District relief model, made in 1834, on a scale of 3 inches (7.6cm) to the mile (.6km). On show is a collection of minerals found in the area. Art exhibitions are held monthly.

Keswick museum and art gallery by Freddie PhillipsPurpose built in 1897 of local green rock and pink St Bees sandstone, the museum is typical of the Victorian style. A picture gallery was added in 1907. The museum is set in Fitz Park with riverside walks, a children's playground, and picnic areas.
