Mills in Cumbria
Mills in Cumbria were used to provide power for the manufacture of cotton, linen, wool, and bobbins. Kendal green cloth and blankets were shipped throughout Britain. The mills also provided waterpower for grinding corn (Eskdale, Heron, and Gleaston mills) and wheat (Little Salkeld, Muncaster).
