Holme village south-east of Milnthorpe Cumbria
Holme
Holme runs along the Lancaster canal. The canal served to tote coal, and Holme had a
wharf for barges until coal was no longer in demand. In the village is a post office and
grocery.
The church of the Holy Trinity was built by the Victorians and, in 1902, restored. It has a tower. A Methodist church is also in the
village.
Nearby a corn mill and a flax mill provided income for the villagers until 1975.
The flax mill made carpets.
