Talkin village south-east of Brampton Cumbria
Talkin
(See also Talkin Tarn Country Park)
Talkin is an
18-19th century village set in the Pennines. Employment in the area was provided by
coal mining, stone and lime quarrying, and farming.
The village church dates from 1842, but there was an earlier Norman one here. The
Blacksmiths Arms pub, by the village green, serves as the local pub and offers B & B rooms.
The Hare and Hounds inn, now closed and derelict, dates from the 17th century and was
used by travelling monks.
Talkin Tarn is a country park north of the village. A golf course is .5 mile
away.
