Clappersgate

Clappersgate Crag Head Loughrigg by Tony RichardsClappersgate is a suburb of the town of Ambleside and is located on the River Brathay. At one time a river wharf at the village was used to transport slate to Windermere and its lake, thus earning the title of a port for Clappersgate.

A Grade II listed building, a former hotel, was turned into flats. In the village is a Victorian post box set in a stone wall.
