Wiggonby

Wiggonby main road by Alexander P KappWiggonby, in Allerdale, is a village in the farming area near Carlisle. It is spread out rather than compact.

In the late 1700s a village school was founded by a Margaret Hodgson. The Church of England primary school is in the village today. A former airfield near the village was used to bury half a million animals during the foot and mouth plague in 2001.
