Baycliff

Fishermans Arms Hotel Baycliff courtesy of Rosemary WaltonBaycliff’s 17th and 18th century limestone cottages sit along the west coast of Cumbria. Views look out to Morecambe Bay making the hamlet a desirable “bedroom” community, and new homes bring the population to around 100. There is a small village green.

In the past the industries of iron mining and local white stone quarrying provided employment for the men of theFarmers Arms Baycliff courtesy of Rosemary Walton village. The iron was shipped to Backbarrow.

North of the village a manor court was held. Manor courts heard local cases and meted out justice.
