Far Sawrey
Far Sawrey lies in rolling farmland and wooded hillsides by lake Windermere. The Sawrey Arms, a post office, and a store are part of the village amenities.
A lane, Cuckoo-Brow, was a favourite walk of Beatrix Potter. It can be spotted in her book, The Fairy Caravan. Down the lane is a copse that served as Pringle Wood in the same book. Along the same lane by the copse is Wilfin Beck, which became Eller-Tree Camp in The Fairy Caravan.
St Peters church, built in the 1800s in early English Gothic style, sits on a low hill. Slate rubble and sandstone are the main building materials of the church. The church has a number of stained glass windows.
