High Newton

High Newton Crown Inn courtesy Andy WallaceHigh Newton lies on both sides of what was once a packhorse road. It became the busy A590 until a bypass was built around the village. The old stables have morphed into an antique shop. Newton Hall is in the village. The local pub, the Crown Inn, is a 17th century coaching inn (updated to today's standards) serving local cask ales. Field Broughton's church is used by High Newton residents as the village is without its own church. Nearby is an 11 acre natural reservoir with fishing for rainbow trout available.High Newton Village Hall courtesy Andy Wallace
