Skelton

Skelton courtesy of Graeme DougalSeveral minor roads run into the village of Skelton, and its houses follow alongside, fanning out from the village green. It is most notable for the Church of St Michael and All Angels, built on the site of a 13th century church.

The 14th century square stone tower with its two bells survives along with a wide nave of 1794, a monument of 1750 to H.R. Brougham, and a pulpit and communion rail of the same period. The church windows have rounded arches.
