Whicham

Whicham valley footpath by Perry Dark GeographWhicham is a small hamlet in the Copeland area of Cumbria. Its location at the southern end of the Whicham valley makes it the starting point for most ascents of Black Combe mountain. A reservoir in the valley was drained and restored in 2012. There are a number of walks in the valley.

Whicham St Mary Church by Andrew Hill GeographWhicham is home to St Mary’s chapel. The southern doorway is Norman and has a chamfered round arch. The east window dates from the 17th century. In 1857 a north transept was added and at the same time the windows were restored.
