Blackem Up Kirk Fell Down 27th July 2007

View from the ascent to Black CombeIt was dry when I arrived at Wasdale Head; there was mist on the tops and I watched a huge shower move across Kirk Fell – five minutes later it was gone.

I walked by the side of Mosedale Beck, past the Y-Boulder and up to Blackem (Black Combe) Head to make an unlikely escape up to the col between Red Pike and Scoat Fell.

Descent from Kirk FellI climbed Scoat Fell and Steeple in dense mist, back to Steeple and on to the summit of Black Crag.

A strong breeze blew the mist away while I climbed Pillar and descended to Black Sail Pass. I climbed Kirk Fell and from the summit made the direct descent to Wasdale Head.
