Blackem Up Kirk Fell Down 27th July
2007
It was dry when I arrived at Wasdale Head; there was mist on the tops and I watched a huge shower move across Kirk Fell – five minutes later it was gone.
I walked by the side of Mosedale Beck, past the Y-Boulder and up to Blackem (Black Combe) Head to make an unlikely escape up to the col between Red Pike and Scoat Fell.
I climbed Scoat Fell and Steeple in dense mist, back to Steeple and on to the summit of Black Crag.
A strong breeze blew the mist away while I climbed Pillar and descended to Black Sail Pass. I climbed Kirk Fell and from the summit made the direct descent to Wasdale Head.
