Crinkle Crags Ore Moasdale 23rd June 2007

Moasdale Beck at Cockley Beck BridgeIt was mainly dry but there was plenty of mist on the tops when I found a small place to leave the car near Cockley Beck Bridge. I walked up the bracken-covered slopes of Gaitscale Close, crossed the intake wall by the built-in stone stile and climbed more steeply on grass between the rock outcrops of Ulpha Fell before the final clamber to the summit of misty Little Stand. I walked over to the start of Crinkle Crags and counted the Crinkles properly as I walked the ridge to Three Tarns then made the scrambling climb of the eroded path up to the rocky crown of Bowfell. I walked along The summit of Crinkle Cragsthe broad ridge above Bowfell Buttress before desending to Ore Gap and taking the steep grassy route to Green Hole and along the valley of Lingcove Beck before making my way down Moasdale back to the car.
