Sandscale Haws Nature Reserve

Track  down to Sandscale Haws by Graham WilsonSandscale Hawes Nature Reserve and dune system is under the care of the National Trust. It looks out over the Duddon estuary. On the reserve are a colony of natterjack toads and rare orchids. Common blue, dingy skipper, grayling, and dark-green fritillary are butterflies found on the reserve. It is a good bird spotting site with waders the predominant type.

Follow the Cumbria Coastal Way's path through the reserve west of Askam-in-Furness.
