Newbiggin Hall

Newbiggin Hall courtesy Newbiggin HallNewbiggin Hall is located south of Carlisle near Carleton. The north-east tower with its thick walls was originally built in the 1330s (as a refuge from marauding Scots), but remodelled around 1500. A new wing, the Jerusalem tower was constructed in the late 1400s or early 1500s.Newbiggin Hall Carleton Carlisle The main hall block was built in 1533, then remodeled in 1796 and 1844. Another wing was added in 1891. The grade II listed building now offers self-catering accommodation.
