Businesses in Colby Towns and Villages of Cumbria

Colby village hall by Alexander Kapp The Geograph British Isles projectColby is almost a suburb of Appleby-in-Westmoreland, but it has been a village in its own right as far back as the 11>th century. Named after the family who owned the land from the time of Henry II to Richard II, it sits alongside Hoff Beck. The township was later owned by the Warcops who sold much of it. Murton and Dufton Pike look down on the area. The local region provided red sandstone for much of the village housing.Colby house built in style of former chapel by Alexander Kapp
