Cumwhinton Village Shop courtesy Andy WallaceCumwhinton, in a farming area, is a village near Carlisle. It was once called Combe Quinton. Many of the village houses are made of red sandstone.

Horse trials are held in July. There is a cross-country course. A post office, primary school with attached shop, village hall, and pub provide local amenities.

Cumwhinton is located on the B6263, 3.5 miles south-east of Carlisle.
