Towns and Villages of Cumbria

Dockray stone church courtesy Andy WallaceDockray (not to be confused with Dockray near Wigton) is a small village on the river surrounded by farmland. Its proximity to the National Trust Aira Force makes it an ideal place to stay for walking in the area. Its a mile from Ullswater and its lake attractions.

Helvellyn and High Street mountain ranges are nearby. Growbarrow Fell is just to the west of the village. Its famous for its daffodils, which inspired Dorothy Wordsworth whose brother William wrote about them.

Dockray is located on the A5091 just north of Ullswater.
